In the last days of November 2025, my brother Christian Seidel and I (Mattias Seidel) made it to meet at his studio and produce a contribution to «1minute autohypnosis» project».
Our piece is based on field recordings of the latest generation of cooling display cabinets, as found in a Berlin sub-store of a large German discounter chain [which one could that be… 😂].
We were both astounded by the ambient-like soundscape created by these devices. It is hard to imagine that these sounds are not used purposely, i.e. that it is actually the work of sound designers.We recorded several sequences with a mobile recording device, extracted the most interesting sequences, to then separate them into several channels in the studio. Following that, we modulated them individually and reassembled them with respective time shifts. The result is a sound file edited to exactly one minute in length.
